The Yellow Hand

Since my diagnosis, I have been unable to count the number of times people have told me that I am brave. This is very kind of them, but I do find this funny, as I am actually a bit of a wuss. So many things frighten me, it's almost ridiculous: spiders, toads, snakes, yellow hands that come out of wardrobes left open in the night...

Having cancer has not suddenly given me courage, as longed for by the Lion. Alas, I did not choose to have cancer; sadly, it chose me. And what I'm doing is living with it, the best way I can. Which is what all other cancer victims are doing, day after day. And I'm no exception.

  4. I think we are just bowled over by the way you are managing the diagnosis, your treatment and the after effects of chemo as some of us (ie. me) have a sneaky suspicion that we would not face it all with such humour, irreverence and style. Your blog etc. gives the e c the finger. I don't know where you find the energy to do all of these things! However, I hear what you say and I will add 'brave' to the list of things I promise never to accuse you of! ;) lololol xx

  5. I think someone once said 'there is no such thing as bravery, only degrees of fear'

You are doing that remarkable thing that all humans do when backed into a corner...surviving. Ok maybe I have been watching a little too much Bear Grylls on the discovery channel but Im betting that if it came down to choosing between you and the toad with the yellow hands....my money would be on you! :-)
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow! (yeah I pinched that last quote too)
